Latest Trend in Green Gardening?

A Livermore company has launched a series of drip irrigation kits, which it says saves gardeners time and money.

An Irrigation Direct news release says:
In these economic times where "staycations" are a common way to spend a holiday, more people are putting their time and effort into making their homes and gardens more enjoyable. Hand watering is time consuming and it's frustrating when plants die. Sprinkler systems can waste water as it evaporates into the air before reaching the ground. Drip irrigation applies water directly to the soil where it trickles down to plant roots. By installing, or switching to, a drip system, home owners save money on water bills, reduce weed growth, and eliminate overspray onto cars and sidewalks.

With over 30 drip kits for vegetable gardens, decks and patios, trees, roses, raised beds, etc., consumers can easily find drip irrigation kits to meet their specific home garden needs. Gravity Feed Kits attach to a rain barrel or garbage can and use captured rain water.

All that is needed is a faucet or garden hose to connect to. "I am a weekend gardener and have been using your drip irrigation products with amazing results," says Irrigation Direct customer Olof Hult. "After removing the existing lawn, we now use only 20% of the household water relative to the first year with the old sprinklers."
